This summer, we will continue to employ many of the best practices we have used in past summers to reduce the spread of all illnesses, even while we will not be practicing extensive testing or masking at camp.

Here’s what you can expect:

Pre-Camp:

All campers and household members should take an at-home COVID test on your day of arrival before leaving for camp. If a camper or family member tests positive, please contact us for instructions.

At Camp:

We will continue to take prudent precautions to reduce the spread of all illness at camp, including COVID. The Health Center will continue to see most campers in our covered, outdoor patio; bunks with several campers with coughs/colds will eat outside and avoid gathering with other bunks; and all bunks and camp spaces will be well ventilated.

We will no longer be testing for COVID at camp unless required for the clinical treatment of the individual. Regardless of the specific illness, any camper that is too sick to participate in camp will first be isolated in the Health Center and then may return home until they have fully recuperated.

FAQ

What happens if my camper must go home or can’t arrive on-time due to COVID?

We strongly advise all families to purchase camp insurance, which includes coverage for camp interruptions or delays due to COVID (as long as it is medically documented). You can purchase this policy up until the day before camp starts (but it does not cover illnesses that begin prior to the purchase date). For more information and information on how to sign up, visit our Knowledge Base. Campers who cannot arrive on time or leave camp due to COVID will not be able to return until they have had 2 negative rapid tests after first symptoms or positive test.

Will my camper be tested for COVID if they go to the Health Center?

We know that COVID testing anxiety was a major challenge for many campers and staff at camp in previous summers - even discouraging some campers and staff from seeking care at the Health Center. This summer, campers and staff will not be tested unless it is medically necessary to determine clinical care for that individual.

Will campers or staff wear masks?

Any camper or staff can choose to wear a mask whenever they wish - we will have a supply of surgical and N95 masks available at all times. If a camper or staff member has a cough or runny nose, they may choose to to mask whenever they are inside to help reduce the spread of all illnesses at camp. We will also have outdoor dining tables for any campers or staff who are sick. Campers and staff who present with a fever are treated and isolated in the health center.
