No Gummy Vitamins or Medications

Starting this year, we are no longer able to accept the GUMMY form of vitamins, melatonin, and other medications. Gummies are unable to be packaged in blister packs like every other medication and often melt together in the bottle when exposed to the summer heat.

Please discuss switching to chewable form with your provider. We recommend your child begin using chewables prior to the start of camp.  As always, medications will be prescribed and ordered through McCarthy's Pharmacy. If you would like to reduce costs, consider using the following brands regularly stocked at McCarthy's, although you may request any specific brand when submitting your McCarthy’s form.

Stocked Melatonin is Natrol quick dissolve Melatonin.

Stocked Multi-Vitamin is Children's chewable multivitamin (generic for Flintstones)

***Note that melatonin, vitamins, and all OTC medications must follow the same procedures as prescriptions and must be requested via McCarthy’s Pharmacy. You CANNOT simply bring them with you to camp on Opening Day.***

“Medication Vacations”

Though some psychiatrists may recommend taking a break from prescribed medication during the summer months, we strongly recommend that you continue their medication throughout the camp session. Camp can be as demanding as school is and requires your child's focus and attention. If your provider has suggested a medication break for the summer, please remind them that your child will be at camp.

Administration schedule

If you or your provider do not have a preference for administration time, we ask you to select lunch time. This is the least busy administration time and will lessen your child's waiting time and help reduce medication administration workload.

Vitamins and Other Elective Supplements

According to NY state regulations, anything your camper takes - whether it's a prescription, over-the-counter, or simply a vitamin - must have a doctor's prescription. We also require that it is filled by McCarthy's Pharmacy.

This also means that your camper will have to come to the Nurse's station and wait in line to get their medication/vitamin/supplement during one of the medication distribution periods - either during breakfast, lunch, dinner, or after evening activity.

If your camper takes a non-essential elective vitamin or supplement, we suggest you select "Lunch" for the medication time (our least busy time) or not send the vitamin to camp at all.

Late Fees

For all families completing their forms by the May 5th deadline, there are no processing or medication fees. After May 5th, families will incur late fees for each camper in the family. Any medications that are brought to camp without prior approval, will have a $250 per medication processing fee. A full list of fees is available below.

If you are experiencing a reasonable delay in submitting your forms and prescriptions by the deadline (often due to scheduling issues or provider delays), please reach out to medications@edenvillagecamp.org to request a late fee waiver.

If you have any questions or need any assistance, please call us or email us at any time and we would be happy to discuss your situation with you.

Warmly,

The Eden Village Camp Health Center team
