Your child’s health, safety and well-being are our primary concern here at Eden Village, and that’s why we’ve partnered with a specialized pharmacy (McCarthy's Pharmacy) that focuses on providing medications to camps. Utilizing an innovative service such as this is considered best practice for top-tier overnight camps around the country, and we are proud to be on the cutting edge of healthcare delivery for your children.
Participating with McCarthy's Pharmacy will:
lower the risk of medication error while your child is here
reduce your child’s wait time to receive medications
prevent you from standing in line to drop off medications on opening day - which can take two hours or more
save you money
All campers who take prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, supplements or vitamins must participate with McCarthy's Pharmacy, which will individually package your camper’s medications and deliver them directly to camp prior to your child’s arrival. All pills will be prepackaged in individually-dosed blister packs, virtually eliminating the risk of error. Our pharmacy will manage every step of the process, including insurance payments, dispensing and delivery.
McCarthy's Pharmacy must receive all orders at least 30 days before the start of the session to avoid an expedited shipping charge, regardless of which session your child is attending.
If you instead drop off medications on opening day, you will:
be charged a $175 drop off fee per medication (unless it’s an emergency medication that was prescribed within 48-hours of opening day),
have to wait in our drop off line, which can typically take up to two hours.
Please see the forms and FAQ section in your CampInTouch account for specific instructions and pharmacy contact information..
Remember, campers are not allowed to keep any medications, vitamins, gummies, herbal supplements, antihistamines, or any other type of pharmaceutical or herbal remedy (prescription or over-the-counter) of any kind in their cabins. The only exceptions are inhalers and epipens. In order for your camper to keep an inhaler and/or epi-pen in the cabin, we need a Permission to Self-Medicate order from your camper’s doctor filed with our health center.
NY STATE REQUIRES A PHYSICIAN’S WRITTEN PERMISSION AND AUTHORIZATION, INCLUDING APPROPRIATE DOSAGE, AS WELL AS WRITTEN PARENTAL CONSENT. This is why we have you fill out the “Over the Counter Medications” form.
Per NY State law, we cannot administer your camper her/his vitamins or supplements unless we have a written doctor's approval, even though you don’t need a doctor’s approval to give vitamins at home!
