You will find a complete list of the medications and remedies that we stock in the Health Center and the ailments for which we administer them in the Over-the-Counter Medications page of the Doctor Completed Medical Documents packet in CampInTouch. You have the option to decline any medication or treatment listed. Please review this form carefully with your child's health care provider; both a parent/guardian signature and a physician's signature are required on the Over-the-Counter Medications form, by New York state law.
If your child takes an over-the-counter medication or supplement on a regular basis we must have physician's orders on file, including dosing instructions, and you must list it on our McCarthy's Pharmacy Medication Request form, to be filled and packaged safely by our camp pharmacy.
Similarly, if you wish your child to take an over-the-counter medication or supplement that we do not stock on an as-needed basis, we must have physician's orders on file, including dosing instructions, and you must list it on our McCarthy's Pharmacy Medication Request form, to be filled and packaged safely by our camp pharmacy.
If your camper takes a non-essential elective vitamin or supplement, we suggest you select "Lunch" for the medication time (our least busy time) or not send the vitamin to camp at all.
No Gummy Vitamins or Medications at camp.
We are no longer able to accept the GUMMY form of vitamins, melatonin, and other medications. Gummies are unable to be packaged in blister packs like every other medication and often melt together in the bottle when exposed to the summer heat.
Please discuss switching to chewable form with your provider. We recommend your child begin using chewables prior to the start of camp. As always, medications will be prescribed and ordered through McCarthy's Pharmacy. If you would like to reduce costs, consider using the following brands regularly stocked at McCarthy's, although you may request any specific brand when submitting your McCarthy’s form.
The cost of your child’s regular prescription and over-the-counter medications may differ when using McCarthy’s. We recommend discussing pricing directly with them, especially if your child requires specific brand-name medications and cannot use their stocked generic options.
